Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in California
Pedestrian accidents take the lives of hundreds of people in California each year. Even though our state is constantly enacting laws to protect pedestrians, we continue to see innocent people die as a result of drivers who are negligent. Some of the most common factors in fatal pedestrian crashes we see here in California include:
Failing to yield: This is a leading cause of fatal pedestrian accidents in California. Drivers who fail to yield the right-of-way to pedestrians are putting them in danger. All too often, these accidents result in serious injuries or even death.
Speeding: Drivers who speed are another major cause of fatal pedestrian accidents in California. When drivers speed, they have less time to react to hazards on the road. This puts pedestrians at a greater risk of being struck by a speeding vehicle.
Driving while distracted: Driving while distracted is another leading cause of fatal pedestrian accidents in California. Drivers who are distracted by their cell phones or other electronic devices are not paying attention to the road and may not see a pedestrian until it's too late.
After losing a loved one as a result of another driver's negligence, you may be able to file a wrongful death claim to help your family secure the financial compensation you need and deserve. The wrongful death claim can help you get money to cover funeral expenses, burial costs, and more.
