Fatal Car Accidents in California
In 2021, more than 3800 people lost their lives as a result of fatal crashes in California. There are several reasons why these accidents take place. Many accidents are a result of drivers who engage in acts of negligence while behind the wheel. Leading factors and collisions across our state include:
Speeding is the most common cause of fatal crashes in California, accounting for a significant number of fatal crashes in our state annually. This is likely because speeding is often a way to avoid getting caught in traffic or reaching your destination sooner. It's also easy to become distracted while driving when you're looking at your phone or watching the scenery.
Impairment is another major cause of deadly accidents in California. Drivers who are impaired by drugs or alcohol are more likely to crash than drivers who are not impaired. This is because impaired drivers can't handle their vehicles as well as usual and are more likely to make mistakes that can lead to fatal accidents.
Distractions can also be dangerous on the roads. When you are distracted by something like music or a conversation, you are less likely to notice warning signs ahead or take the proper precautions when driving. This can lead to an accident that kills you or someone else.
