San Jacinto, CA –Arthur St Clair Fatally Struck by Vehicle on S San Jacinto Ave near Midway St
San Jacinto, CA (December 21, 2022) – Authorities in San Jacinto were called to the scene of a fatal crash that took place late Sunday evening that claimed the life of 35-year-old Arthur St. Clair.
The crash was reported at 10:20 p.m. on December 18.
Reports provided by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department show that a San Jacinto deputy was driving north on South San Jacinto Avenue during the evening hours. As his vehicle approached the area just south of Midway Street, he noticed a male pedestrian lying in the roadway.
The officer exited his vehicle and began rendering CPR to the victim, identified as St. Clair. However, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Authorities determined that the driver of a Chevrolet Suburban was traveling through the area when they struck the pedestrian. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement.
Authorities blocked off the roadway for an extended period as they worked to investigate.
At this time, these investigations are ongoing.
Our condolences are with the family of Arthur St. Clair at this time.
Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in California
Fatal pedestrian crashes claim the lives of hundreds of people in California every year. Unfortunately, many of these fatal collisions can be attributed to some form of negligence.
We see many people lose their lives as a result of speeding drivers. When drivers are traveling too fast, they may not be able to stop in time to avoid striking pedestrians who walk out into the road in front of them. Additionally, speeding can result in drivers losing control of their vehicles and striking innocent pedestrians in the area.
In addition to speeding, distractions are another leading cause of fatal pedestrian crashes here in California. We have seen a dramatic increase in the number of fatal collisions that take place due to drivers who are texting on the phone or talking, or engaging in other distracting behaviors while behind the wheel.
Unfortunately, no matter how safe you are while traveling near busy roadways, it is nearly impossible to predict how other motorists are going to behave while behind the wheel. If your loved one has died due to a fatal pedestrian crash, you should seek legal guidance right away.
