Car Accidents in California
Car accidents are reported every day in the state of California that leave countless people injured. These incidents add up to hundreds of thousands of crashes taking place across our state annually. Tens of thousands of people end up being hospitalized with injuries that they suffer in these crashes.
In many cases, innocent people are hurt in car crashes caused by drivers who are negligent. Leading factors in California car crashes include:
- Speeding: There are many reasons why speeding is a leading factor in California car crashes. For one, speeding makes it more difficult for drivers to control their cars. This increases the chance of losing control of the car and crashing. In addition, speeding makes it harder for drivers to see objects or vehicles on the road before it’s too late.
- Impairment: Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol severely impairs one's ability to operate a vehicle safely. Drivers who are under the influence may be unable to make responsible decisions in order to avoid crashing into other people, objects, or vehicles.
- Distractions: Drivers who are texting, talking on the phone, or otherwise not paying attention to the road are more likely to cause serious car crashes.
- Failing to yield: This can happen when a driver tries to make a left turn across oncoming traffic, or when they enter an intersection without enough time to clear it. In either case, if another vehicle has the right-of-way, serious accidents can occur.
