Car Accidents in California
A fatal accident's impact on surviving family members' lives cannot be understated. Regrettably, California witnesses the loss of thousands of lives each year due to fatal accidents, and many of these incidents could have been avoided entirely. The leading cause of these preventable accidents continues to be drivers who engage in careless and negligent behavior, such as speeding and other dangerous actions. These and other reckless actions take the lives of innocent people every single day.
When victims lose their lives in accidents that were not their fault, families often have legal avenues available to help them move forward. One common course of action taken by grieving families is to file a wrongful death claim. In California, surviving spouses of the deceased victim can file these claims against those responsible. Other entitled parties include the children, surviving parents, siblings, and any other individuals who were financially dependent on the victim prior to their passing. These claims seek compensation for the damages that these individuals have endured.
In the aftermath of losing a loved one, it is crucial to act quickly to take legal steps to get justice and hold the negligent party accountable. Waiting to file a claim can result in the loss of crucial evidence, which could severely impact your ability to maximize the compensation you are entitled to recover. Reaching out to a wrongful death lawyer in Los Angeles as soon as possible after your loss can ensure you are better positioned to protect your legal rights.
