Los Angeles, CA – Three Killed in Vermont Ave Uber Crash near Century Blvd
Los Angeles, CA (August 27, 2023) – A crash between an Uber vehicle and a speeding car claimed the lives of multiple victims.
At around 5:30 a.m. on August 26, the California Highway Patrol and Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to a major collision on Vermont Avenue.
Reports from California Highway Patrol show that a white Mercedes-Benz sedan was heading north on Vermont Avenue while traveling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle attempted to beat a red light at the intersection of Century Boulevard when it crashed head-on with a black Honda sedan, which was driven by an Uber rideshare driver.
The impact of the collision caused the Honda to spin across the roadway, ejecting at least one person.
One person had to be extricated from the vehicle.
Three victims suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. The victims were identified as 23-year-old Veronica Amezola, 27-year-old Kimberly Izquierdo, and 23-year-old Juvelyn Arroyo.
Two other victims were injured in the accident and had to be transported to area hospitals for emergency medical care.
The accident is being investigated.
