Motorcycle Accidents in California
Riding a motorcycle can be extremely rejuvenating. In fact, hundreds of thousands of people in the state of California are licensed riders. Regrettably, statistics show that approximately 2% of motorcyclists are involved in accidents every single year in our state.
In many cases, motorcyclists are left with severe injuries as a result of their accidents. Common injuries that are reported in motorcycle accidents in our state include:
- Spinal Cord Injuries: Spinal cord fractures can occur when the motorcycle collides with something hard, such as a metal bar or a pole. The force of the crash can cause the rider to fall off the bike and onto their back, injuring their spine. If the rider is not wearing a helmet, they may also suffer head injuries.
- Broken Bones: Broken bones can often be fixed with surgery, but if the bone is severely fractured, it may need to be replaced. Broken bones that are not fixed may require extensive rehabilitation and time spent away from work.
- Traumatic Brain Injuries: Traumatic brain injuries (TBI) are one of the most serious types of injuries that motorcyclists can suffer in an accident. TBIs can happen when the bike crashes into another object or when the rider is thrown off the bike. If left untreated, TBIs can lead to long-term health problems and even death. Unfortunately, there are instances where motorcyclists with helmets are left with severe and life-altering injuries.
