Pedestrian Accidents in California
Automobile crashes take place every single day in the state of California. Unfortunately, more than 200,000 vehicle collisions are reported annually in the state. Tens of thousands of people involved in these accidents are left with serious injuries that require medical attention. There are a number of factors that contribute to this problem, including the state's large population and busy roads. Here are some of the most common causes of car accidents in California:
- Distracted driving: With so many things going on at any given time, it's easy to see how drivers can become distracted. Whether it's talking on the phone, texting, or simply not paying attention to the road, anything that takes a driver's focus away from driving can lead to an accident.
- Impaired driving: Driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs is extremely dangerous and is one of the leading causes of car accidents in California.
- Speeding: Speed limits are in place for a reason - to keep drivers and others safe on the roadways. When drivers exceed the posted speed limit, they put themselves and others at risk for an accident.
- Weather conditions: California is known for its sunny weather, but there are also times when the weather can be difficult to navigate. Fog, rain, and wind can all make driving conditions more difficult and lead to accidents.
- Road rage: Everyone has gotten angry behind the wheel at some point, but when that anger turns into road rage, it can be very dangerous. Drivers who are angry or aggressive behind the wheel are more likely to engage in risky behaviors that can lead to an accident.
