Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in California
The loss of a loved one can be incredibly challenging to deal with. Unfortunately, families are forced to deal with these overwhelming consequences every year. In fact, pedestrian accidents take the lives of hundreds of people here in the state of California alone.
After losing a loved one in a fatal pedestrian accident, your family may be able to file a wrongful death claim against the person who caused the accident. This type of legal claim can help your family recover financial compensation for some of the damages that you face.
Lost earnings are one of the most obvious damages that can be suffered after a loved one's death. If your loved one contributed financially to supporting your family, their death could leave you struggling to make ends meet. Fortunately, California allows families to recover lost earnings in these situations. In addition, families may be able to recover loss of benefits as well, which can include health insurance and other coverage.
Funeral and burial expenses can also add up quickly after a loved one's death. If you're struggling to pay these costs, you may be able to recover them from the at-fault party. These damages can include coverage for funeral arrangements, headstones, burial plots, and various other end-of-life costs.
In addition, loss of consortium is another recoverable damage that is extremely important for families who have lost a loved one. Loss of consortium covers the loss of companionship, love, and affection that comes with the death of a family member. If you've suffered this type of loss, you may be able to recover damages for it.
