Truck Accidents in California
Reports provided by the California Highway Patrol show that a total of 6897 truck accidents resulting in injuries or death took place in 2017 in our state. In many instances, these accidents are a result of drivers who are reckless in negligent while behind the wheel. Leading factors and truck accidents include:
- Drivers who travel too fast for the road conditions.
- Drivers who are impaired by alcohol or drugs while operating their vehicles.
- Drivers who are fatigued.
- Drivers who pass stop signs or run red lights.
- Overloaded cargo leading to a spill out or rollover.
Unfortunately, any irresponsible action behind the wheel can cause a serious and life-changing truck accident. In many cases, injured parties are able to take legal action against the person who caused the accident. Unlike other types of vehicle collisions, semi-truck accidents are far more complex due to the fact that multiple parties can be held liable. These parties can include:
- The driver of the truck.
- The truck company.
- The owner of the commercial vehicle.
- The cargo company that loaded the vehicle.
- The maintenance company in charge on fixing and monitoring the safety of the vehicle.
- Any parts manufacturers of defective parts that cause the crash.
