Car Accidents in California
Every day, hundreds of people are injured as a result of automobile accidents in California. These incidents add up to hundreds of thousands of victims annually, tens of thousands of which are right here in Los Angeles County. Being involved in an accident can change nearly every aspect of your life. Regrettably, far too many innocent people are forced to deal with the immediate and long-term consequences of crashes.
If you have been harmed as a result of a car crash, it is important for you to be aware of your legal rights and options. After a crash, you have the ability to pursue a claim for compensation against the person who caused you harm. These claims enable crash victims to recover compensation for lost earnings, vehicle repairs, and various other costs and losses that they face.
After your crash, it is important to prove that the defendant is responsible for your damages. In California, even if you are partially at fault for the accident, you have the ability to recover fair compensation in the amount that is equal to the damages caused by the defendant. For example, if you were found to be 10% at fault for the crash, the amount of compensation you would be able to recover would be reduced by 10%. Instead, you would receive a total of 90% of your damages, which is equal to the amount of fault that the defendant shared for the crash. This rule follows our state’s comparative negligence laws and ensures you get fair compensation. To provide yourself with the best chances of maximizing your recovery, you should reach out to a car accident lawyer in Los Angeles right away.
