Los Angeles, CA – Officer Killed in Crash at Lindley Ave & Roscoe Blvd
Los Angeles, CA (November 5, 2023) – An off-duty Los Angeles Police Department officer lost his life as a result of an automobile accident that occurred on Saturday morning, November 4.
At around 1:20 a.m., a speeding black BMW was traveling in the area of Lindley Avenue and Roscoe Boulevard when the driver ran a red light and crashed into a white Infiniti.
The Infiniti, which was driven by an off-duty Los Angeles Police Department Officer, sustained moderate damage.
The officer, identified as Darrell Cunningham, was fatally injured in the crash. A female passenger in the Infiniti, an unidentified female, also sustained fatal injuries. She was pronounced deceased.
A back-seat passenger, identified as an off-duty deputy sheriff out of San Bernardino, was transported to a local hospital with injuries. Two additional victims were transported to area hospitals with injuries.
Authorities stated that the BMW was traveling over 100 MPH at the time of the accident. They also believe the driver may have been under the influence.
At this time, the incident is being investigated.
