Car Accidents in California
Car accidents in California can often be contributed to forms of negligence. We see thousands of people hurt in accidents across the state on a weekly basis due to drivers who fail to operate their vehicles in a responsible manner. Unfortunately, rear-end accidents are one of the most common types of collisions reported in our state. Many of these accidents take place at busy intersections.
There are many potential causes of rear-end accidents at intersections, but some are more common than others. One frequent cause is simply failing to see the other vehicle stopped at the intersection until it's too late. This can happen if you're distracted, if it's dark or foggy, or if the other vehicle has its brake lights obscured.
Another common cause is misjudging the speed of oncoming traffic and assuming you can make it through the intersection before they do. This is especially dangerous if there's more than one lane of traffic. If someone else in another lane is coming through the intersection at the same time, you could end up getting T-boned. Rear-end accidents at intersections can also be caused by speeding, tailgating, and running red lights or stop signs.
