Car Accidents in California
Car crashes in the state of California are one of the leading causes of injuries and death. Unfortunately, tens of thousands of people are left with significant injuries as a result of crashes that take place in our state each year. Some common injuries reported in car crashes include:
Spinal cord injuries that lead to paralysis
Internal organ damage, such as lung punctures or spleen ruptures, which requires emergency medical care
Broken bones or compound fractures
Severe lacerations, which can result in muscle and nerve damage
If you’ve suffered injuries as a result of an accident, it is important that you take legal action right away. In order to get justice, you must be able to prove that the driver who caused the crash was engaging in some form of negligence while behind the wheel. Common causes of crashes that we see in our state include:
Distracted driving: Texting, eating, drinking or any other type of distraction can lead to dangerous mistakes behind the wheel.
Driving while intoxicated: This is the number one cause of car accidents in California, responsible for more than a third of all crashes. Driving under the influence can impair your judgment, cause you to take risks you wouldn't normally take, and slow down your reaction time.
Faulty equipment: Poorly maintained vehicles can also lead to accidents. For example, a door that won't lock properly can cause a crash when someone tries to get out of the car while it's moving. In addition, malfunctioning headlights or signal lights can make it difficult for other drivers to see you and cause accidents.
