Fatal Car Accidents in California
In 2021, the state of California reported around 4161 motor vehicle deaths. This alarming number continues to increase annually, despite the number of measures in place to protect motorists.
As California continues to reopen and more people return to normal activity levels, it is important that drivers engage in safe driving practices. Unfortunately, we see far too many people continue to lose their lives as a result of crashes that take place in our state. Far too many accidents are a result of drivers who are negligent. Some of the most common causes of fatal collisions in our state include:
- Speeding: When drivers exceed the posted speed limit, they put themselves and others at risk. Speeding makes it nearly impossible to maintain control of your vehicle around curved areas, in construction zones, and in heavy traffic.
- Drunk driving: Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is illegal and extremely dangerous. Thousands of people are seriously hurt or killed each year as a result of drunk driving in California.
- Distracted motorists: Anything that takes a driver’s attention away from the road can have deadly consequences. We see many accidents take place as a result of drivers who are drinking, eating, texting, or talking on their phones. Distracted driving can be just as dangerous as drunk driving and it can lead to severe consequences.
If you have lost a loved one as a result of the fatal collision, a Los Angeles wrongful death lawyer can help you file a wrong full death claim against the driver who is at fault.
