Los Angeles, CA – Fatal Collision Reported on 10 Freeway near Santa Fe Ave
Los Angeles, CA (October 21, 2023) – A fatal accident reported in the Los Angeles area on Thursday morning claimed one person’s life. At approximately 4:38 a.m. on October 19, law enforcement responded to the incident on the eastbound lanes of the 10 Freeway, just east of Santa Fe Avenue.
According to initial reports, the driver of a 2022 Kia Stinger was traveling in the wrong direction of the roadway, heading west on the eastbound lanes. As a result, the vehicle became involved in a head-on collision with an oncoming Honda Fit.
Upon arrival, medical responders pronounced the sole occupant of the Honda deceased at the scene. Authorities have identified the victim as a 33-year-old resident of Los Angeles.
Two other people involved in the crash were injured. Paramedics transported a 5-year-old child and a 22-year-old woman from the Kia to a hospital for emergency medical treatment of moderate injuries.
The driver of the Kia, 25-year-old Brandon Bencomo, is currently facing charges of suspected DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
