Fatal Car Accidents in California
Fatal auto accidents in California take the lives of thousands of people every year. In 2022, the state saw more than 4,400 people lose their lives due to fatal accidents. Unfortunately, we see a significant number of these accidents occur right here in Los Angeles County.
Many of the accidents that we witness take innocent lives in our area are preventable. In fact, most of the crashes are caused by acts of negligence. These include:
- Impaired Driving: Operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or other substances impairs judgment, coordination, and reaction times. This can make it nearly impossible to operate a vehicle responsibly.
- Speeding: Driving at excessive speeds can make it difficult for a driver to react in time to avoid a collision. Additionally, speeding can make an accident far worse due to the force at impact.
- Reckless or Aggressive Driving: Aggressive behaviors like tailgating and road rage can lead to dangerous situations and fatal accidents on the road.
Distracted Driving: Using smartphones, eating, adjusting the radio, or engaging in any activity that takes a driver’s attention off the road can result in a serious accident.
