Los Angeles, CA – Pedestrian Killed in Bundy Dr Hit-And-Run
Los Angeles, CA (August 6, 2025) – A fatal hit-and-run unfolded in the Los Angeles area on August 5, leaving a pedestrian dead and two individuals under arrest. The incident took place at approximately 2:09 p.m. near the off-ramp from the 10 Freeway to Bundy Drive, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Initial reports state that the crash began when a driver operating a white Jeep rear-ended another vehicle while exiting the freeway. Instead of stopping, the driver fled the scene, driving into oncoming traffic along Bundy Drive. Tragically, while attempting to escape, the Jeep struck a pedestrian. The pedestrian died at the scene despite efforts by emergency personnel.
After the impact, the suspect continued driving recklessly down Bundy Drive before abandoning the vehicle near the intersection of Pearl Street and Bundy Drive. From there, they attempted to escape on foot. A second person, driving a gray Honda Insight, allegedly acted as an accomplice, picking up the fleeing driver.
Police located the gray vehicle near Ocean Park Boulevard and Bundy Drive. A felony traffic stop was carried out by officers, and both the driver and the suspected hit-and-run perpetrator were arrested. Authorities have yet to release the identity of the deceased pedestrian as they work to notify the next of kin. This crash remains under active investigation. Police are asking that anyone with information related to the accident come forward to assist in their efforts.
We extend our deepest sympathies to the family of the victim.
Wrongful Death Accidents in California
In California, fatal accidents caused by negligence are sadly not uncommon. Thousands of families each year are left mourning sudden losses that stem from reckless driving, impaired motorists, or high-speed collisions. According to recent state data, over 4,000 people lose their lives in motor vehicle accidents in California annually, with hundreds involving pedestrians. These tragedies leave lasting impacts on families and communities.
As families grieve, it’s important to be aware of the kinds of legal steps that can help protect their future. Here are a few considerations that arise after fatal crashes:
Identifying Responsible Parties: In fatal incidents like this one, multiple individuals may hold liability—including the fleeing driver and any accomplices. Legal teams investigate these factors thoroughly.
Survivor Benefits: Families may be eligible for compensation to cover funeral costs, lost wages, and the loss of companionship. These claims help families manage the financial burden.
Insurance Company Tactics: Insurance carriers may offer fast settlements, often undervaluing the loss. Skilled attorneys help families fight for what they’re truly owed.
Legal Deadlines: In California, wrongful death claims are subject to strict filing deadlines. Acting quickly preserves your rights.
Collecting Evidence: Key to building a strong case is gathering video footage, witness statements, and expert analysis. Time is critical, as this evidence may be lost.
Emotional Impact: Legal claims can also include damages for emotional pain and suffering, recognizing the depth of loss loved ones experience.
For grieving families, this process is overwhelming. That's where compassionate legal support becomes essential. If you’ve lost a loved one in a fatal crash in California, we urge you to speak with a wrongful death attorney today.
