Long Beach, CA – Multi-Vehicle Wreck on Pacific Coast Highway near 2nd St Takes One Life
Long Beach, CA (March 30, 2023) – A police pursuit took place in the Long Beach area on Tuesday evening that claimed one person’s life while leaving multiple people injured. At around 8:15 p.m. on March 28, the Long Beach Police Department was notified that a crash had taken place on Pacific Coast Highway.
Preliminary reports show that the Seal Beach Police Department initiated a pursuit involving a reckless driver. As the police attempted to pull over the vehicle near 5th Street and Marine Drive, the driver of the vehicle sped away. The vehicle entered the Pacific Coast Highway, resulting in a pursuit.
As the vehicle sped through the area of 2nd Street, it collided with multiple other vehicles.
One person lost their life as a result of the crash. Eight others suffered injuries and were rushed to area hospitals.
The suspect ran from his vehicle on foot it was chased by the police. The police were able to capture the man and take him into custody.
The crash remains under investigation.
