Motorcycle Accidents in California
Motorcycle crashes frequently occur here in the state of California. Unfortunately, these accidents are more likely to result in more significant injuries to the victims involved. This is due to the fact that most motorcycle riders have little more than helmets to protect them during vehicle collisions. As a result, motorcyclists are more likely to suffer from traumatic brain injuries, severe compound fractures, and internal organ injuries. Many victims suffer from severe cuts and lacerations due to road rash and being ejected from their vehicles.
Motorcyclists who are involved in accidents often have to go through extensive medical treatment. Many victims require hospitalization in months of therapy afterward. The unfortunate truth is that motorcycle accidents are often attributed to negligent driving behaviors. Some of the common factors in motorcycle crashes include:
- Distractions: When a driver is not paying attention to the road, they are more likely to miss something important, like a stop sign or a motorcyclist traveling through the area.
- Speeding: Speeding also makes it more difficult for drivers to control their vehicles, which can lead to accidents even if there isn't another vehicle involved. When drivers are going too fast, they have less time to react to hazards on the road, such as motorcyclists traveling nearby.
- Failure to yield: Drivers who fail to yield the right of way to motorcyclists often do so because they fail to see them. This can happen when a driver is making a turn or changing lanes and doesn't check their mirrors or blind spots properly.
