Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in California
Fatal pedestrian accidents take the lives of more than 1000 people annually in California. In many cases, these accidents are a result of a variety of forms of negligence. Some of the leading factors that contribute to motor vehicle accidents across the state include:
- Failure to yield: When drivers change lanes, enter roadways, or perform other maneuvers, it is crucial for them to yield the right-of-way to other motorists. Failure to do so can result in collisions and cause severe harm.
- Speeding drivers: Drivers who exceed the posted speed limit remain a significant cause of accidents. Their excessive speed increases the likelihood of losing control and colliding with innocent individuals.
- Disregarding stop signs: It is essential for drivers to come to a complete stop at stop signs when approaching intersections. Neglecting to do so can lead to collisions with other vehicles.
- Running red lights: Red lights at intersections are in place to ensure safe passage for vehicles. Unfortunately, many drivers fail to stop at red lights, resulting in collisions with other vehicles. Intersection accidents are more likely to lead to rollovers.
